As part of the Charitable Champions program, 8th-grade students learn about local nonprofit organizations and the role of philanthropy. Students then write a grant on behalf of one local organization. This year six grant groups presented their requests to the HANDS Foundation board. Today four groups learned that their grants were funded and the students had the chance to present a representative from that organization with a giant check. The nonprofits receiving funding are Giving Gardens of Indiana, Humane Society of Whitley County, Royal Family Kids Camp, and Whitley County Council on Aging.

Last Thursday, the 6th Grade Scientists enjoyed the nature trail for the last time of the school year. They reviewed all their life science vocabulary and practiced identifying native and invasive species. We have enjoyed having the nature trail as such a great learning tool at ISMS.

The last student day is Friday, May 31.

Please join the 8th-grade class for the 2024 Awards & Transition Ceremony on Friday, May 31 at 12:30 p.m. in the main gym.

Whitley County Consolidated Schools Board of School Trustees approved an updated school calendar for the 2024-2025 year to reflect five additional professional development (or teacher only) days for our staff.
The additional staff-only days were added through a 1003 waiver approved by the State. Students attend 5 fewer days during the school year but still exceed state guidelines for the number of required instructional minutes for the school year.
The change in calendar provides WCCS staff professional development opportunities to advance district strategic plan pillars of Comprehensive Student Experience, Employee Experience and Organizational Excellence.
Find the calendar on the WCCS App or online at wccsonline.com.

We are looking for instrument donations to help students who can not afford instruments for the upcoming school year.
If you know of some collecting dust, we'll gladly help put them back to use. Contact Mrs. Gaff with any questions or to donate.

Congratulations to Mrs. Duncan, Mrs. Ford, and the cast and crew of Star Warts: The Umpire Strikes Back for a fantastic performance this evening.

Our staff at the CCHS Cafeteria recently received this note from a student : "Me and my friend were late to lunch and even though they already put everything up they still had smiles on their faces and were more than happy to give us lunch. They were so sweet and asked us what we wanted and she asked us if we wanted a brownie and we said yes, she took the biggest ones out of the bottom.. .and gave them to us. It was so sweet she took the time to do that and that they weren't rude or upset or anything. I think about their kindness every day." Way to serve and care for our students ladies!
