WCCS PROUDLY RECOGNIZES THE TEACHER AND STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH
Whitley County Consolidated Schools congratulates the March Teacher of the Month and Staff of the Month winners.
Lisa Kissinger, Reading Specialist at Northern Heights Elementary School, was recognized as as the teacher of the month for February 2026.
"Mrs. Kissinger has truly changed the trajectory of my daughter’s learning this past year. At the beginning of the school year, my daughter was struggling and performing below passing level, especially in reading.... She poured time, patience, and genuine care into helping my daughter grow. Because of her dedication, my daughter didn’t just improve—she exceeded expectations. That kind of growth is nothing short of incredible, and it simply would not have happened without Mrs. Kissinger’s support. Her kindness, encouragement, and communication helped us feel supported every step of the way. She doesn’t just teach—she lifts her students up and helps them see their own potential," said Kissinger's nominator.

Kara McKinney, Media Assistant at Indian Springs Middle School, was recognized as the Staff Member of the Month for March 2026.
"Mrs. McKinney has intentionally worked towards being a positive and supportive constant in all of our middle schoolers' lives. She is ready with praise every time a student demonstrates good citizenship, whether that be to help a friend out, see a need and do something about it, or following through with their responsibilities. She lets them know they are seen and heard. Many of our quietest students open up as she gently encourages them to share about their day," adding, that she does the same with staff and is "always willing to help with anything asked of her. She goes out of her way to check in on anyone who has had extra challenges in their lives recently. She even makes sure to always send a positive message out on staff member's birthdays."

The winners were awarded a certificate, a floral design from Bravo Floral, and a t-shirt voucher for WCCS swag from Running Around Screen Printing. Thank you, Bravo Floral and Running Around Screen Printing!
WCCS is grateful to our exceptional teachers and staff who serve our community well. Each month, nominations are taken from co-workers, families, and the community and then winners are chosen from a selection committee made up of community members, service organizations, a WCCS School Board member, and WCCS staff.
Through May, we will honor a WCCS teacher and a WCCS staff member who go above and beyond, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to academic excellence, innovative teaching methods, and fostering a positive, engaging learning environment. These exemplary educators embody the WCCS values of Eagle P.R.I.D.E. - Persistence, Respectfulness, Initiative, Dependability, and Efficiency.
