WCCS PROUDLY RECOGNIZES THE TEACHER AND STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY

Whitley County Consolidated Schools congratulates the January Teacher of the Month and Staff of the Month winners.

Erica Witt, Third Grade teacher at Northern Heights Elementary School, was recognized as the teacher of the month for January 2026.

"Miss Witt is an exceptional educator. She communicates clearly and consistently with parents, creating a strong partnership that supports each student's success. In the classroom, she holds high expectations while encouraging students to be the best version of themselves -- she's passionate, energetic, and enthusiastic with her instruction and with making sure every student who passes through her room knows they are loved," said Witt's nominator.

Sean Johnston, Computer Technical for for Whitley County Consolidated Schools, was recognized as the Staff Member of the Month for January 2026.

Sean has a heart for helping and for serving. He has taken it upon himself to clean and organize the technology area at Indian Springs Middle School so that he could be more present in the building to support student and staff needs throughout the day. I've never heard Sean say "no" -- when he's able to provide support or assistance, in any way, he's always willing, whether it's related to technology or just lending a helping hand to support the needs of the school or of teachers."

The winners were awarded a certificate, a floral design from Bravo Floral, and a t-shirt voucher for WCCS swag from Running Around Screen Printing. Thank you, Bravo Floral and Running Around Screen Printing!

WCCS is grateful to our exceptional teachers and staff who serve our community well. Each month, nominations are taken from co-workers, families, and the community and then winners are chosen from a selection committee made up of community members, service organizations, a WCCS School Board member, and WCCS staff.

Through May, we will honor a WCCS teacher and a WCCS staff member who go above and beyond, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to academic excellence, innovative teaching methods, and fostering a positive, engaging learning environment. These exemplary educators embody the WCCS values of Eagle P.R.I.D.E. - Persistence, Respectfulness, Initiative, Dependability, and Efficiency.
