Coesse families, we are looking forward to seeing you at Parent/Teacher Conferences! Be sure to stop and take a look at our Lost and Found table. We have quite a collection!

WCCS will be on a 2 hour delay for Monday, October 12, due to patchy, dense fog.
Fourth grade just finished up their Indiana State Parks projects.
The students each wrote a letter to their assigned state park and many received personal letters and information back.
Each student then did research and presented a slideshow showcasing their state park.
This project was great practice in letter writing, research, presenting, and learning about Indiana.
Many are now excited to visit their park with their families!

September has been busy!
Mrs. Windhorst's class spent most of the month studying apples. They wrote about how they are 'apple-solutely' amazing. They also did a science experiment where they made predictions and observations about how different liquids and substances would keep red and green apples from turning brown. They also made apple pie in a cup and talked about following a recipe, measuring, and sequencing steps. Then they made predictions and recorded their data!
After reading Jack and the Beanstalk, they also worked on making estimates and adjusting their estimates based on prior knowledge. They got to make estimates then work with beans in small groups to make groups of ones, tens, and hundreds to find how many beans we had as a class. They also played how many more, how many fewer, where they compared their amount to those of their classmates.

We are just sending message to let everyone know that the internet and phone lines are down. We are troubleshooting the problems with our company.
Second grade enjoyed their field trip to Kuehnert Dairy Farm! They got to tour the barn where they learned all about dairy cows and saw the robotic milking machine extract milk.
They also were able to pet a brand new (less than a day old) calf and try some of Kuehnert's flavored milks!
They learned a lot about this local farm and were able to enjoy the fall festival after the tour.

We’re off to a great start to the school year! Our food service teams work hard each day to provide our students with breakfast and lunch to help fuel them for learning, growing, and making the most of their school day.
It’s hard to believe we’re already more than halfway through September! Northern Heights recently shared photos of a couple of the lunches served this week, and we’re happy to showcase the great work happening behind the scenes.
A BIG thank-you to all of our dedicated food service staff for their commitment to providing nutritious meals and keeping our students fueled throughout the day.

A special thank you to Mr. James Rose for training our 5th-grade Flag Crew! The Coesse Flag Crew is responsible for raising and lowering the flag each day.
Coesse third graders have been learning about character traits and how those traits can change based on the events characters experience throughout a story.
Students practiced identifying character traits and understanding the difference between character traits and character feelings.
Finally, they put their learning into practice by using character traits to describe one another.

Thanks to the hard work of our FANTASTIC staff, Coesse students and staff now have access to an outdoor learning area right outside the building!
