    Media in the Making is a podcast series informing people how evolving media has impacted culture.

     

    Each episode looks at important pieces of media, from 1600 to 2020, throughout history to learn how it has affected our culture. Relax as our podcast series dives into history, from the invention of the telephone and the golden age of radio, to modern cell phones, apps, and social media.     In 1973 the mobile prototype was a shoe and a 2 ½ pound phone. The mobile phone was originally invented by Martin Cooper. He would continuously change the design over and over again. He eventually was able to invent the mobile ‘shoe’ phone. It was a handheld phone; however, it was so large that it was almost heavier than a regular shoe. The clunky design was easy to carry at first but it eventually did get heavy after a while. The pocket-sized mobile phone has shrunk and grown for years and still fluctuates back and forth today, but with more advanced technology features.
