Academic Team Announcements
6th Grade Band has been working diligently to learn their new instrument in class and at home. Students have put in a lot of time, effort, and practice in class and at home. The class is moving at a pace faster than expected. Rock stars!
7th Grade Band is getting back to fundamentals. After the long break from March all the way to August, the 7th grade musicians are working hard to refresh, relearn, advance, and become excellent musicians. Everyone has come together as a family to teach each other, be supportive, and learn as ONE. We have also been working on a piece for a virtual concert for parents this month.
8th Grade Band has hit the ground running. Eight students from the 8th grade band have finished their first season with the CCHS Marching Eagles and have become great musicians and leaders in the ensemble. Currently we have been focusing on fundamentals of musicianship, growing our knowledge of how to read a piece of notation at first glance, and working our musicianship through dynamics, tone quality, and styles. At the moment the band is being challenged by an excerpt from “Phantom of the Opera” in hopes to prepare for a virtual Spooktober concert for parents.
6th, 7th, and 8th grade choirs are working on songs and staying fresh with new choreography and review of former choreography.
8th grade watched Phantom of the Opera, one of the longest-running musicals of all time.
6th grade is doing a compare and contrast of the first Mary Poppins and the more recent Mary Poppins.
