STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

    1. Individuals fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of a student firefighter will at all times present themselves in a courteous, professional and responsible manner.

    2. Operate both as a member of a team and independently during simulated incidents.

    3. Spend extensive time outside exposed to the elements.

    4. Tolerate extreme fluctuations in temperature while performing duties. Must perform physically demanding work in hot and humid atmospheres while wearing equipment that significantly impairs body-cooling mechanisms.

    5. Experience frequent transition from hot to cold and from humid to dry atmospheres.

    6. Work in wet, icy, or muddy areas.

    7. Perform a variety of tasks on slippery, hazardous surfaces such as rooftops or from ladders.

    8. Work in areas where sustaining traumatic or thermal injuries is possible.

    9. Wear personal protective equipment that weighs approximately 50 pounds while performing these tasks.

    10. Perform physically demanding work while wearing positive pressure breathing equipment.

    11. Use manual and power tools.

    12. Lift varying weights and carry said weights, without stopping for various distances.

    13. Maintain physical conditioning necessary to perform efficiently.
