Philosophy

The WCCS resource model is designed to support the education of all students. This includes students with disabilities, gifted students, 504 and general education students.

A priority of the resource program is to meet the needs of each student with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), as well as each identified Gifted and Talented student, in the most appropriate and least restrictive environment possible (meaning within the general education classroom whenever possible). Hence, collaboration with the general education teacher is essential to assist with modifications in curricula, instructional methodologies, staffing patterns, or classroom organization before a student is ever removed from that environment.

With this collaboration and support, instructional differentiation and assessment strategies and techniques will be utilized by WCCS teachers and students, allowing for on - going highest student achievement and success.
